I played with these irons for 4 seasons and they were absolutely fabulous. The first time I broke 90 was with these irons, and then the first time I broke 80. This 4 iron has made a hole in one on a 220 yard par 3. Great Control, Very Forgiving, and generally just a joy to hit. I like to draw and fade the ball, and was able to hit both pretty consistently, I wish the driver was more like these. I don't know how many times I pulled this 3 iron off the tee and crushed It 250 yards. Words don't describe how good that feels especially when you need par on 18 on the 330 yard par 4 to beat your friends with water left and OB right. The weighting makes for effortless power, and the sound a flush strike makes is one of the most satisfying sounds in life. Its almost like they don't make a noise at all just a gentle swoosh as the ball streaks for the flag. I would hit these irons high and far. Not sure what type of shafts my college golf coach put on but he did say that they were in his opinion the best extra stiff steel shafts on the market. He was a golf pro and they were his irons before he sold them to me, and then he tried to buy them back after switching to Nikes. It is difficult for me to sell these especially for such a low price but I am attempting to learn the blades. I may regret selling these bad boys. This line is currently discontinued.
*5 Iron is a semi hybrid iron which in my opinion is a extremely useful club when just beginning and for advanced golfers because of its versatility. Great for out of the rough with a long way to go. There is a fine balance between not enough loft ( turning club head over) and achieving maximum possible distant out of the rough and this five iron was ideal for that situation which how many times have you found yourself with 200 plus yards on your second shot on a par four with a questionable lie? They are a solid set of irons that launch the ball high and are very forgiving. Toe hits go a long ways. I went to them in the spring and have averaged 1 more GIR per round over my previous irons (Wilson Ci7). I hit more greens with them, although sometimes the proximity to the hole is quite a ways further than I want. Knockdowns are no problem. Still can hit a draw (my natural shot shape) with them no problem. I will ditto the comments that have been given...I play off of a 5.4 hdcp at this time and used the G5 irons until just a few months ago...Hitting G15's at this time. I'm a 30+ year Ping player and have found the G5 to be some of my favorites through the years. It might take you some getting use to them, but if you will give them a chance, you will love this iron....Bob I picked up a set of used PING G5 irons on the BST for my son (happened to fit his specs, Orange dot), he is hitting very well with them. He played in a local junior tournament yesterday and shot his best score to date.
